Inner Philosophy

During a recent conversation with Vilicia she suggested something that struck me as very strange. She told me that she wanted me to try to think up an idea on my own without reading about it first. I think she thought that I like to read philosophy books (those aren't the only kinds of books I read, by the way) in order to make it so I don't have to think or in order to impress the girls or something. Maybe it's a bit of the latter ;)

In any case, I told her that I really do come up with my own ideas. Actually, I read those books to help myself out. The people who write books of philosophy are much smarter than I am so who am I to go and try to think up their ideas on my own. Having said that, however, once I have read and understood to some degree a philosopher's book I'll put his/her ideas to use in my own life, taking from what I like and rejecting the bad.

Sorry folks, but thinking is one of my favourite activities. I don't think I'd trade it for anything either, despite the fact that it can get in the way of my day at times.
